The OpenWorm team from California is making a ‘digital’ worm (top right). Their project is recreating the neurons and cells in C. elegans (bottom right), the simplest organism we know of, but has similarities to humans. By making a digital worm the team hope to create artificial life. They have implanted the digital ‘mind’ of the worm into a Lego machine (left). In a video it acts and behaves just like the worm would in the real world. Next year the team will allow people to download their own digital worm.
ROBOTS COULD KILL US ALL IN FIVE YEARS, SAYS ELON MUSK
In a recent comment on futrology site Edge, SpaceX and Tesla Motors chief Elon Musk warned of the dangers of artificial intelligence.
In his comment he feared that the risk of ‘something seriously dangerous happening’ could be in as few as five years.
Although he doesn’t go into detail, he alludes to ‘digital superintelligences’ and internet bots as being among the potential problems facing humanity.
In the comment he says the pace of progress in AI is ‘incredibly fast’.
He continued: ‘I am not alone in thinking we should be worried.
‘The leading AI companies have taken great steps to ensure safety.
‘They recognise the danger, but believe that they can shape and control the digital superintelligences and prevent bad ones from escaping into the internet. That remains to be seen…’

Their creators believe that within a decade fully independent androids will exist that can walk, talk and ‘think’ by themselves. Experts are also predicting that a future where people have sexual relationships with androids are not so far-fetched.

Ghostly images in and around my home (last night)
Last night my dogs were relaxed and sleeping, suddenly they got up and starting to get nervous.
After a minute or two they started barking and running around like they were chasing someone in the house who did not belong, I immediately grabbed my camera because no stranger was in the house (at least not visible to the naked eye) … these pictures showed why my dogs were barking and growling.

Captain America, the Hulk and Iron Man relied on the incredible ‘Helicarrier’ to launch their planes from the air in the 2012 The Avengers film.
And now, the US military is taking a leaf out of Marvel’s comic after it invited people to submit ideas for future ‘aircraft carriers in the sky.’
The hope is that these flying fortresses will someday carry, launch and recover multiple swarms of drones anywhere in the world.
According to Darpa – the Pentagon’s advanced military technology research agency – military air operations typically rely on large, manned, robust aircraft.
But such missions put these expensive aircraft, and their pilots, at risk.

And now, after Esa completed humanity’s first ever landing on a comet, so-called UFO experts have claimed 67P is not a comet at all – but in fact a spaceship.
One of the most bizarre claims was made by Scott Waring of the website UFO Sightings Daily.
He said he had received an email from an anonymous Esa ‘whistle blower’ that claimed intelligent-sounding signals had been received from comet 67PChuryumov-Gerasimenko 20 years ago and the object is actually an alien ship in disguise.

ACT OF WAR: Russians Disable U.S. Guided Missile Destroyer in the Black Sea
(by Kurt Nimmo, Infowars) — The USS Donald Cook was disabled while on patrol in the Black Sea by an unarmed Russian bomber.
A Russian Su-24 buzzed the ship and “disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the US destroyer. In other words, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked up — or about to be — with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most modern ships was shut down,” reports the Voltaire Network.
The guided missile destroyer represents the cutting edge of U.S. military technology. It carries Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers, missiles capable of carrying nuclear explosives. The ship carries 56 Tomahawk missiles in standard mode and 96 missiles in attack mode. It is also equipped with the latest Aegis Combat System.
The Aegis Combat System is an integrated naval weapons system manufactured by Lockheed Martin. It uses sophisticated computer and radar technology to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets.
“The State Department acknowledged that the crew of the destroyer USS Donald Cook has been gravely demoralized ever since their vessel was flown over in the Black Sea by a Russian Sukhoi-24 (Su-24) fighter jet which carried neither bombs nor missiles but only an electronic warfare device.”
Prior to the incident in the Black Sea, the Russian defense ministry complained about the deployment of the warship. The ministry said it demonstrated that U.S. antimissile systems in Europe are aimed at undermining Russia’s nuclear deterrent.
